I have been experimenting with a unique woven cloth technique that I recently discovered. My mentor for this method is Jude Hill of spiritcloth.typepad.com. I am very excited about this technique, as I can combine my love of handwork, stamped fabric, and recycled fabrics into one beautiful piece. It is a perfect way to make a memory piece for that special someone, because I can use treasures from the past: old clothing, hankies, embroidered linens, buttons, or jewelry.
I’m sure more ideas will occur as I continue to explore this technique. I love it so much that I will be teaching this as a class at the Salina Art Center this summer. The class will include my techniques for tea dying and rust dying for that old-fashioned antique look!
